Cyclocross, Road & Track
Age: 17
Hometown: Victoria
Hello! My name is Kimberly Chen, I am turning 17 this year and I am from Victoria, BC. I have been multidiscipline since 2018, exploring the communities of track, road, cyclocross, cross-country, and enduro. I love the diversity that cycling offers, and how there is always something for everyone. I enjoy different aspects of each of the disciplines I have raced, I think they can complement each other quite well and keep bike racing exciting. Last year, I did A LOT of racing, and learned so much about myself and the sport. This year I will be taking those experiences with me and focusing more on track, road, and cyclocross for my junior years. I still plan on racing some enduros and an occasional XC race when my schedule works out, though! My goals and dreams in cycling are to represent Canada on the world stage, either next year at Junior Track Worlds or eventually in the Olympics or Elite World Championships.
I joined the Tripleshot youth team in 2017 where I was introduced to track, road, XC, and cyclocross, then I joined The Cycling Co.'s Dirt Squad in 2020 and began racing enduro, and lastly I have been representing Cycling BC at Track and Road nationals since last year. I have also been a Canadian Sport School student since Grade 10.
For the past two years, I have been a part of the RLG program as a mentee and it has been such a unique opportunity for me to connect with other girls and women in the sport. I became much closer with the other island riders through this program and was properly introduced to mainland and interior girls that I would usually only meet a couple times a year at races. I want to stay involved with this generation of shredders and I hope to share my experiences of racing multiple disciplines at the National level with the community. I am excited to challenge myself this year and take on the leadership role of an ambassador!
